For general use, try to get a laptop with at least a 9th-generation Intel Core i5 or AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage (preferably a solid-state drive, also called SSD), and at least a 13-inch display that's close to HD (1080p). For gaming, video editing, or other power-hungry tasks, aim for a 10th- or 11th-generation Intel Core i7 or AMD Ryzen 7 Series 5 processor with 16 gigs of RAM and a dedicated graphics card by Nvidia or AMD. Our guide on buying a laptop has more tips you should know as you shop.

Be sure to read our guide to the Best Laptops, Best Cheap Laptops, Best MacBooks, Best Chromebooks, and Best Surface PCs for more recommendations.

Laptop Deals

It doesn't matter if you're in the market for an all-powerful video editing machine, a tricked-out gaming rig, or a budget Chromebook—there's a deal out there for everyone.

★ Dell XPS 13—Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256-GB SSD—for $650 ($300 off)

Dell's XPS 13 is one of the best 13-inch laptops on the market. It's lightweight, small, and plenty powerful. This is the base model, with an 11th-generation Intel Core i5 chip, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and a 256-GB SSD. That's plenty of power for most tasks, and it ships with Windows 11 Home. The only slight downside is the 13-inch screen: This model has a 1080p (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) resolution, which is nice and bright, but not quite as nice as the OLED and 4K XPS laptops (which are not on sale).

Lenovo Yoga i9—Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512-GB SSD—for $1,350 ($500 off)

The Lenovo Yoga i9 has dipped to this price before, so this deal isn't rare, but it's still a good price for a high-end laptop. It's a thin, light, 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop. This model has a nice 4K HDR touchscreen, with an Intel Evo Core i7 chip, 16 GB of RAM, and a 512-GB SSD. It ships with Windows 11 Home and will handle the average PC workload without breaking a sweat. Just know that the integrated graphics aren't good enough for gaming.

Acer Swift 5—Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 1-TB SSD—for $990 ($310 off)

Amazon, Newegg

This light 14-inch laptop is one of our favorites. The 11th-generation Intel Core i7 chip offers great performance and long battery life. This version has 16 gigabytes of RAM and a 1-terabyte drive, which should be up to just about everything you can throw at it. You also get a lot of ports—HDMI, two USB-A ports, and a USB-C (Thunderbolt 4 capable, and can double as a charging port). There's also a headphone jack!

Apple Macbook Air (2020, M1) for $869 ($130 off)

B&H, Best Buy ($900)

This deal is just $50 higher than the best price we've seen on our favorite MacBook. You get powerful performance, a sharp and colorful 13-inch screen, all-day battery life, and total silence thanks to the fanless design. Be sure to have a look at our MacBook buying guide to see which model is right for you.

Razer Book 13—Core i7, 16 GB RAM, 512-GB SSD—for $1,500 ($200 off)

This 13-inch laptop from Razer packs a respectable 11th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, 16 gigabytes of RAM, and a 512 gigabyte SSD. But its most striking feature is the vibrant 4K touchscreen display. The bezels surrounding this screen are thin enough to occasionally forget they're even there.

Google Pixelbook Go—Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 128-GB SSD—for $722 ($127 off)

Amazon, Best Buy ($749)

This deal started back in October, but it's still a pretty good one. Once upon a time, this was the nicest Chromebook on the market. These days that prize would probably go to the Galaxy Chromebook above, but this is still a solid 13-inch machine, especially the Core i5 model on sale here.

ThinkPan X1 Nano—Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 256-GB SSD—for $1,140 ($400 off)

(Enter Code TPPREMUIMBFDEALS, HOLIDAYSURPRISE, and IDEATHANKSDB1 at Checkout)

If you like the size and weight of the MacBook Air but prefer the keyboard and Windows-based features of a ThinkPad, the 13-inch X1 Nano is for you. It's thin and light (just shy of 2 pounds), but it has the ThinkPad pedigree—a great keyboard, the red nub, and buttons at the top of the trackpad. This model features an 11th-generation Intel Core i5, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and a 256-gigabyte SSD. Beware that it won't ship for two months.

HP Spectre x360—Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 512-GB SSD—for $900 ($500 off)

HP's Spectre x360 (9/10, WIRED Recommends) has been a perennial favorite of ours. It's a great-looking laptop, and the specs on this 14-inch model make it plenty for most people. You get an 11th-generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and a 512-gigabyte SSD. For another $90 you can up the RAM to 16 gigabytes, which is well worth it since the RAM here is soldered to the board.

HP Spectre x360—Core i5, 8 GB RAM, 256-GB SSD—for $840 ($260 off)

Similar to the 14-inch model above, this 13-inch Spectre is slightly smaller and cheaper. With an Intel Core i5 chip, 8 gigabytes of RAM, and a 256-gigabyte SSD, you get enough power for editing documents, browsing the web, editing photos, and other everyday tasks, though won't want to edit video on this one.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2—Core i3, 8 GB RAM, 128-GB SSD—$549 ($150 off)

Best Buy, Samsung (Choose Core i3)

Samsung's Galaxy Chromebook 2 (8/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of the nicest Chromebooks on the market. It's got a solid, lightweight aluminum body with a build quality that surpasses many pricier laptops I've tested. The bright, color-rich screen isn't quite as nice as the original 4K model, but it's still far better than most Chromebooks. The original Galaxy Chromebook is also on sale for $599 ($100 off). It has impressive specs, but the battery life isn't very good.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 4—Ryzen 5, 8 GB RAM, 128-GB SSD—for $700 ($200 off)

Microsoft, Best Buy

This is a good deal on the AMD version of Microsoft's Surface Laptop 4 (7/10, WIRED Recommends). It's a solid, well-built laptop, with a nice 3:2-ratio screen that gives extra room for reading and working on documents. Other, more powerful, more expensive AMD configurations are also on sale. Have a look at our Surface buying guide for some other options.

Acer Swift 3—Core i7, 8 GB RAM, 256-GB SSD—for $688 ($65 off)

Amazon, Walmart

An 11th-gen Intel Core i7 processor in a laptop for less than $800? That's not very common, and it means you can get heaps of power for a respectable price. The Swift 3 is in our Best Cheap Laptops guide, and we like its no-nonsense design and IPS LCD display. It scored well in our battery tests and has plenty of ports.

Monitor Deals

Nothing will boost your work-from-home game like a huge screen. The monitors below are the best deals on our favorites.

Samsung Odyssey G7 27-Inch Gaming Monitor for $500 ($150 off)

Amazon, Best Buy

With a speedy refresh rate (144 Hz) and support for both Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync, this curved monitor delivers smooth graphics. This is the lowest price we've seen on this monitor, and it's particularly a good option for gamers.

Samsung Odyssey G3 27-Inch FHD Gaming Monitor for $230 ($70 off)

Amazon, Best Buy (Sold Out)

The G3 is a slight step down from the G7 above, with the resolution going from Wide QHD to Full HD, but it still has the same refresh rate and AMD FreeSync support, and it's less than half the price.

Acer Predator XB273U 27-Inch Gaming Monitor for $398 ($147 off)

Amazon, Best Buy

We haven't tested this monitor, but it's received positive reviews around the web. It's ideal for gaming, with a max 270-Hz screen refresh rate (with Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync support), a 2,560 x 1,440-pixel resolution, and an IPS panel for great colors.

Acer Nitro XV272U 27-Inch Gaming Monitor for $250 ($50 off)

WIRED contributor Simon Hill uses this monitor every day and loves it. It has an IPS LCD panel, meaning you'll get some nice colors, and there's a 144-Hz screen refresh rate in case you want to use it for gaming after work (or during work, you do you). There's VESA support for mounting and a 1,440-pixel resolution.

Networking and Router Deals

No matter how fast your internet is … it could be faster. Upgrading your router is one of the best ways to upgrade your home internet experience. Below are our favorite deals, but be sure to read through our guide on speeding up your home internet, and our Best Mesh Router Systems guide for more suggestions.

Netgear Nighthawk XR1000 Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router for $275 ($75 off)

We have not tested Netgear’s Nighthawk XR1000 gaming router, but it purportedly offers impressive speeds, apps for iOS and Android, and support for Wi-Fi 6.

Eero 6 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System (Router 3-Pack) for $167 ($28 off)

Amazon, Target, Best Buy

This is one of the easiest mesh systems to set up, according to our Best Mesh Wi-Fi Systems guide, and it also includes Wi-Fi 6 support, giving it a bit of future-proofing. You get a router and two nodes to place around your house, and speeds were consistent with no drops in our testing. There's Alexa support, though we didn't like that it's missing some extra features like Quality of Service for prioritizing activities, and the inability to separate Wi-Fi bands.

Netgear Orbi AX4200 Mesh WiFi System (RBK753) for $400 ($150 off)

Netgear, Best Buy (2-Pack for $330)

The Netgear Orbi AX4200 is our favorite mesh system for large homes. It's not the easiest to set up, but fortunately, you only need to do that once. When you're done, you have a system that easily covers large spaces and delivers very good speeds, with satellite nodes very nearly as fast as the main router.

Nest Wifi Mesh Router 2-Pack for $179 ($90 off)

Target, Best Buy

Google's Nest mesh system is easy to use and provides good coverage. It lacks support for the new Wi-Fi 6 standard, but at this price, it's still a good buy. If you don't have a large space to cover, a single unit (just the router) is $139 at Amazon ($30 off).

Furniture Deals

We've tested all of the following chairs and desks, which you can read more about in our Home Office Gear guide. Read our Best Office Chair guide for seating recommendations and tips.

Fully Jarvis Bamboo Standing Desk for $484 ($85 off)

This is our favorite motorized standing desk. It has the ability to store four height presets and features an eco-friendly bamboo top. There are also numerous ways to customize it to your liking.

Branch Standing Desk for $650 ($50 off)—Use Code BFCM

(Enter Code BFCM at Checkout)

This motorized standing desk is pricey, but it's also one of the most elegant and smoothest standing desks we've tested. It has a range of 25 to 52 inches tall, and there's a hole in the center of the rear to route your cables. Branch's sale is site-wide, with chairs $20 off (the Ergonomic Chair is our top pick), and there's a desk-chair bundle for $120 off.

Secretlab Magnus Desk and Signature Stealth Magpad for $518 ($59 off)

Secretlab’s metal Magnus desk is expensive and heavy, but your inner neat freak will love the way it makes managing cables a breeze. Reviews editor Julian Chokkattu says the Magnus will solve your cable clutter and deliver peace of mind. Read more about it here.

Flexispot EN1 Standing Desk for $240 ($60 off)—Click the Coupon Button

Amazon (Click the Coupon Button), Flexispot ($231)

This is arguably the best standing desk you can get for the money. Reviews editor Julian Chokkattu has had it in his bedroom for the past year and while its installation instructions aren't the best, it's worked as advertised every single time. There are height presets, a relatively smooth motor to raise the desk up and down, and it doesn't feel cheap in any way.

Herman Miller Embody Office Chair for $1,475 ($260 off)

Herman Miller, Design Within Reach

I know, I know. Expensive is an understatement with this chair. But this is what WIRED reviews editor Julian Chokkattu sits on every day and he says it's worth it. It keeps your back well-aligned, it effectively whisks body heat away, and the sheer number of adjustments makes it uniquely customizable to your body. It does take some time to get used to this chair though, from weeks to months. It comes fully assembled and you get a 12-year warranty. The Embody also holds its value really well.

X-Chair X2 K-Sport Mgmt Office Chair for $775 ($75 off)

If your room runs very hot (and you can't control the temperature much), then grab the X-Chair X2. It has a mesh seat and backrest that keep you very cool. It's really comfortable, and you can add attachments like a headrest or a wider seat. You can read more about it in our Best Office Chairs guide

Mavix M7 Gaming Chair for $661 ($117 off)

Mavix is actually a sister brand to X-Chair, so you might notice the similarities. This one has wheels that lock in place and is more colorful. Read more about it in our guide.

Cushion Lab Pressure Relief Seat Cushion for $65 ($10 off)

Brookstone, Cushion Lab ($69), Verishop ($69)

Don't need a new seat? Cushion Lab's cushion can make anything you're currently sitting on immensely more comfortable, though it is thick, so you'll want to put it on a height-adjustable chair (or use a height-adjustable desk).

Up to $40 off Secretlab Titan Evo 2022 Gaming Chairs

It's not for everyone, but if you need a gaming chair, Secretlab's Titan Evo 2022 (7/10, WIRED Recommends) is one of our favorites. Like the desk above, much of what's to love here involves magnets and organizational excellence.

10 Percent Off at Burrow Couches Store—Use Code CM21

(Enter Code CM21 at Checkout)

Need a couch for your office space? Burrow makes some comfy, fairly compact couches that have stood up well in our testing. They're easy to assemble and comfortable, a perfect place to lounge after those long hours at the desk.

Laura Davidson Office Chair for $383 ($67 off)—Use Code BLACKFRIDAY

(Enter Code BLACKFRIDAY at Checkout)

The stylish Soho Pro ribbed chair is finished in black Italian leather, with an aluminum frame and base, and chrome topped casters. Assembly is easy and WIRED's Matt Jancer says its quality is fantastic. You can also snag the synthetic leather version for $230 ($40 off).

Peripheral Deals

Logitech G Pro X Keyboard for $100 ($50 off)

Here's a chance to save a few dollars on our favorite mechanical keyboard. The Logitech G Pro X allows for infinite customization, thanks to its different key kits, which means you can customize each and every key on your keyboard. There are three different switch types: GX Blue Clicky switches (for a crisp click and thicker keystroke), GX Red Linear (for a quieter, smoother, but still satisfying keystroke), or GX Brown Tactile (with a soft stroke and tactile feedback).

Razer Kiyo Pro Webcam for $100 ($100 off)

The Razer Kiyo Pro is one of our favorite webcams, and this deal eliminates our main gripe: the high price. This 1080p cam has a much bigger sensor than more affordable models, allowing it to deliver great picture quality, though you'll need to fine-tune some of the settings in Razer's Synapse app.

Logitech C922x Pro Webcam for $74 ($25 off)

The Logitech C920 is the standard-bearer for 1080p webcams and is second only to the Razer Kiyo Pro in our roundup of best webcams. The C922x, on the other hand, closes that gap, offering up to 60 frames per second video (in 720p mode) and better low-light performance. We haven't tested it yet, but reviews around the web have good things to say.

Massdrop X Sennheiser HD 6XX Corded Headphones for $179 ($40 off)

Noise-canceling tech gets all the press, but sometimes you can't block the world out. Whether you're watching the kids while you work or you're waiting for a knock at the door, these are the headphones for you. The open-back design lets sound in, allowing you to hear what's going on in the real world.

SteelSeries Prime Wireless Gaming Mouse for $91 ($27 off)

Amazon, Best Buy ($96)

This is our favorite wireless mouse. It has a design that works for a variety of hand sizes, it's speedy and responsive, and the buttons are clicky. More importantly, its wireless connection has long range and it's ultra-stable, so your cursor will never look choppy. It's purpose-built, and it shows.

Logitech G305 Wireless Mouse for $30 ($11 off)

Target, Amazon

Most people don't need a mouse that costs more than $50. Reviews editor Julian Chokkattu has used the Logitech G305 for more than two years with no issues. It's a great basic wireless mouse with long battery life (it uses only one AA battery), as long as you have a spare USB-A port for the receiver.

Razer Viper Ambidextrous Gaming Mouse for $40 ($23 off)

Best Buy, Amazon (Sold Out)

This gaming mouse offers low latency at a decent price. We haven't tested this specific model, but Razor's Viper Ultimate, which is similar, ranks high in our guide to the best gaming mice.

HyperX QuadCast USB Microphone for $84 ($56 off)

It's hard to spend time on Twitch without coming across a streamer using this HyperX microphone. On top of delivering incredible audio quality for a USB microphone, it also includes prominent LEDs, which look catchy on camera. Even if you don't plan to turn your gaming habit into a production, it's a good microphone for a great price.

Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone for $214 ($35 off)

If you want to up your podcasting game, the Shure MV7 is a great way to get what our resident audio expert, associate editor Parker Hall, calls “approaching real studio-quality sound".

Boling Pocket LED RGB Video Light for $99 ($40 off)

This Pocket LED video light is one of our favorite tools for making studio-grade videos at home. It gets remarkably bright despite the compact size and offers multiple colors and effects. You can match the color temperature to your lighting conditions, or tap into the effect to mimic a lightning strike. It mounts to your camera via a cold shoe.

Aputure Amaran MC LED Light for $79 ($11 off)

Amazon, B&H

It's not as bright as the Boling above, but this Aputure video light is magnetic, so it can attach to a variety of surfaces for easy mounting. It has plenty of effects and color options, and you can either recharge it via USB-C or with a regular Qi wireless charger. It's a great option for lighting yourself up during Zoom meetings.

Chargers, Cables, and Storage Deals

Nomad Base Station Mini Wireless Charger for $49 ($21 off)

This wireless charger from Nomad looks great, with a padded black leather surface and aluminum chassis. It's our favorite wireless charging stand. It also comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, so you can plug it into your devices directly if you need to charge faster. There's no power adapter, though, and you'll need to use a 30-watt adapter to hit 15-watt speeds with an Android phone.

Western Digital 12-TB External Hard Drive for $200 ($60 off)

Western Digital's entire line of Easystore external hard drives is on sale right now. Price per terabyte varies, but the larger drives are better value. If you don't need the 12 terabytes linked here, and you probably don't, there's no need to buy it just because it's the best deal. If you're using these as drives to backup your data, I suggest sticking with the 2 to 8 terabyte range. That's enough to store several weeks' worth of daily backups of a 512-gigabyte laptop drive.

Nomad USB-C Kevlar Cables for $21 ($9 off)

These incredibly durable, high-quality cables will last just about forever, thanks to their Kevlar construction. They're frequently out of stock, so grab them while you can.

Satechi 108-Watt Three-Port Wall Charger for $56 ($19 off)

Satechi (Use Code BFCM25 at Checkout)

This three-port USB-C wall charger delivers 45, 30, and 30 watts respectively if you plug three devices in simultaneously. That's enough to recharge a MacBook Air and fast-charge an iPad Pro and iPhone 13 at the same time. Just use the top port and you'll get 100 watts to power any demanding laptop during heavy workloads.

★ Samsung T7 Portable 1-TB Storage Drive for $110 ($60 off)

Amazon, Samsung

Samsung's T7 portable drives are some of our favorites. They're the speediest drives I've tested, and they're lightweight, with solid metal enclosures, making them reasonably indestructible. The catch is the price. The per-gigabyte cost of these is higher than average, though this deal narrows the gap. If you need more space, the 2-TB model is also on sale at Amazon for $250 ($50 off).

LaCie Rugged Mini 2-TB External Hard Drive Portable for $70 ($30 off)

Amazon, B&H

This is a hard disk drive, not a solid state drive, so you're not going to get anywhere near the file transfer speeds as the Samsung T7 above. However, HDDs still have a place in the world as you can get heaps of storage for not a lot of money. Case in point here, where you get 2 terabytes for under $100. It's rugged, making it a durable option for anyone who needs to do backups in the field.

Oakywood 2-in-1 Headphone Stand With Wireless Charger for $93 ($16 off)

This elegant headphone stand has a wooden base that doubles as a wireless charger. It's very sturdy, and while the charging isn't especially fast, it's perfectly fine for juicing up a phone or earbuds as you work. It's a classy addition to any workstation.

Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021 for $100 ($50 off)

Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft

Remember when you bought software once, rather than renting it for a monthly fee? Good news, you can still do that with some things like this deal on Microsoft Office Home & Student 2021. Yes, we know about LibreOffice, but some people have to use the Microsoft Office suite and for them, this is a way to save a little money.
