Phones, Earbuds, and Laptop Deals

★ Best for Most—Google Pixel 5A Phone for $399 ($50 off)

The Google Pixel 5A (9/10, WIRED Recommends) is the best smartphone for most people. It was already incredible value, and now it's even more so with this deal—the first time it has dropped in price. It has a dual-camera system that can take better photos than nearly any other phone under $500, two-day battery life, 5G, an OLED screen, and great performance. The best part is how you get three years of software support. Did I mention it has a headphone jack?

★ Google Pixel 6 Phone for $550 ($50 off)

Best Buy (Low Stock), Target (Sold Out)

This Pixel (9/10, WIRED Recommends) isn't even a month old yet so this deal makes an already great phone an even sweeter package. This is the first Pixel with Google's own custom Tensor processor, allowing it to handle complex machine learning tasks on device. That enables much better video capture, incredibly fast voice dictation, and an easy way to remove objects in the background of your photos. It has much improved cameras, making it compete with the iPhone 13 Pro for the best phone camera, and it will get security updates for five years. Our Pixel Phone guide has more details. Stock fluctuates really fast to snag it if you see it available.

Pixelbook Go Laptop for $722 ($127 off)

Amazon, Best Buy ($749)

This Chromebook came out in 2019, but it still has five years of software support left. It's still a great buy if you want a no-nonsense Chrome OS-powered machine that nails the basics. Everything works through the Google Chrome browser, but if you need access to other applications, you can access the Google Play Store and download Android apps (though the implementation is a bit wonky). The Intel Core i5 processor model with 8 gigabytes of RAM is plenty powerful for everyday tasks, even keeping open more than 30 Chrome tabs. It's lightweight, attractive, and has a nice screen.

★ Google Pixel Buds A-Series for $80 ($20 off)

Best Buy, Target (Sold Out), Walmart (Sold Out)

Google's newest earbuds (8/10, WIRED Recommends) are our favorite earbuds for most people. They're comfortable to wear, pair instantly with most Android phones (and work well with iPhones!), have an IPX4 sweat resistance rating, and you can easily talk to Google Assistant to get weather details, send messages, or ask Google anything. They sound pretty good, and the case adds 19 additional hours of listening time. What's disappointing is the earbuds only last five hours, which is on the low end, and the case does not wirelessly recharge (only via USB-C).

Fitbit Charge 5 Fitness Tracker for $130 ($50 off)

Amazon, Target, Best Buy

Google completed its Fitbit acquisition this year, so this fitness tracker is entirely a Google device. Thankfully, it's a great fitness tracker (8/10, WIRED Recommends). Attractive, unobtrusive, and packed with useful sensors, it has a lovely AMOLED touch screen, GPS, and long battery life.

Smart Speaker Deals

★ Nest Mini Voice-Assistant Speaker for $25 ($25 off)

Target, Best Buy, Walmart

If you don't mind living with a microphone-enabled smart speaker, this is the best way to enter the smart-home world. It's dirt cheap, especially on sale, and you can ask Google Assistant pretty much anything. Ask it to tell you the weather, play the news, set a timer, or if it's safe for your dog to eat blueberries. (The answer is yes.) It can control any supported smart home gadget you install, from smart bulbs and smart plugs to security cameras.

★ Nest Audio Smart Speaker for $60 ($40 off)

Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond

If you already have a Nest Mini, or you are primarily looking for a speaker for playing music, the Nest Audio is a great upgrade (8/10, WIRED Recommends). It delivers great sound and has Google Assistant built-in. You can pair two for excellent stereo sound. There's a physical mute switch to turn off the microphone for extra peace of mind.

Nest Hub Smart Display for $50 ($50 off)

Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond

Smart displays are very similar to smart speakers in that they have many of the same functions, but as you might surmise, they have a screen. It's helpful because when you ask for the weather report, as an example, you'll be able to see all the details for yourself. This model is small enough to be useful on the nightstand or kitchen counter (and there is no camera). It can also track your sleep, though the feature was in beta when we tested it and wasn't very polished.

Nest Hub Max 10-Inch Smart Display for $179 ($50 off)

Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart

The benefit of having a camera on a smart display is that you can make video calls with friends and family. On the Nest Hub Max (8/10, WIRED Recommends), it works through the Google Duo app. This display has better speakers than its sibling above, and a larger screen that makes it nicer for following recipes, and if you ever need it to pause an alarm, timer, or song, just show it your palm—handy if you're in the kitchen and don't want to touch the screen.

Smart Home Deals

★ Nest Cam—Has a Battery—for $150 ($30 off)

Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart

The new Nest Cam is in our guide to the Best Outdoor Security Cameras, but it works just as well indoors. This one is battery-operated, so you can place it pretty much anywhere (within range of your Wi-Fi network), and the battery only needs to be recharged after a month or more. When you need to charge it, you can just take it off the mount—it attaches magnetically. The 1080p video quality is solid, and the motion alerts are seamless. You can pay for a Nest Aware subscription ($6 per month) so it can learn faces, have access to a 60-day event history, and more. The corded version is also on sale for a significantly cheaper $80 ($20 off).

Nest Doorbell—Has a Battery—for $130 ($50 off)

Target, Best Buy, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart

We haven't tested this battery-powered version of the Nest Doorbell yet, but it adds HDR and night vision. The sun or streetlights won't blow out the image and ruin your footage. You can get alerts customized for people, packages, animals, and cars, and you can talk to visitors through the doorbell's speaker if somebody rings when you're not home.

Nest Thermostat for $90 ($40 off)

Amazon, Target ($100), Best Buy ($100)

We have not tried this model, but we've tested and liked previous Nest Thermostats. You can control your home's heating and cooling system from your phone and set schedules. It can remind you when to change your filter, and it can detect when you leave the home to turn on Eco mode to save energy.

★ Chromecast With Google TV for $40 ($10 off)

Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, Adorama

If you like the ability to cast media from your smartphone to your TV but you also like having an interface to scroll through, then this Chromecast is the best of both worlds (8/10, WIRED Recommends). The remote has a Google Assistant button so you can ask it to pull up Squid Game, but you can also ask Google Assistant anything, from the weather to the traffic report.

Chromecast (3rd Generation) for $20 ($10 off)

Target, Amazon, Best Buy

Folks with a 4K TV should buy the Chromecast With Google TV listed above, but if your TV maxes out at 1080p, this cheaper version is good enough. There's no interface, but you can stream from an Android device and the dongle supports more than 2,000 apps, including Netflix, YouTube, Disney+, and HBO Now.

Nest Wi-Fi Mesh Router 2-Pack for $179 ($90 off)

Target, Best Buy, Walmart

The Nest Wi-Fi isn't our favorite mesh router system because it doesn't have Wi-Fi 6, a relatively new standard that can support more internet-connected devices in your home with better speeds. That said, it's dead simple for anyone to set up, doesn't look ugly, and the mesh point doubles as an Assistant smart speaker, reducing the need to get a separate one.
